Choosing a Package

We offer three distinct services.  Please see below what each of these includes to be sure that it is right for you before you make your purchase.  

Purchase Check

Suitable: when you’ve found a car already and would like some impartial input on whether or not it would make a suitable purchase.

Key features:

  • Assessment of reliability and performance of make, model, derivative and engine

  • Consideration of service history (oil and filter, cam belt, transmission fluid)

  • Information on future maintenance costs (cam belt service etc.)

  • Current market value check

  • Feedback on service history of the vehicle and possible implications for future reliability

  • Evaluation of the pros and cons of engaging a mechanical inspection

  • Advice on the appropriate provider and level of mechanical inspection if one is appropriate

  • Discussions with the seller to establish on your behalf if you wish

  • Guidance on some preliminary checks that you can do yourself (where appropriate) before committing to purchase (clutch, gearbox, engine, head gasket etc.) if a mechanical inspection is uneconomical or impractical.

 

Cost: £75 (or £50 if you’ve paid for a Purchase Check on a previous car - please see below)

Car Search

Suitable: for customers who would like us to find some good options to look at, test drive or to possibly buy remotely.  Before suggesting any car we will consider all of the factors that we would for package A to be sure it is not only a good fit for you, but also represents good value.

Key features:

  • National search (or if you wish, locally to you) from dealers and private sellers

  • Advice on reliability of different makes and models

  • Help to find the spec that meets your needs

  • Guidance you through the choice of engines which may be wisest to opt for

  • Identification of ULEZ compliant models if needed

  • Simple explanation of fueling choices and transmission options

  • Consideration of service history (oil and filter, cam belt, transmission fluid)

  • Factor in likely future maintenance costs (cam belt etc.)

  • Identification of good cars from reputable sellers for your consideration

  • Checks on MOT, service and HPI history

  • Pricing evaluation within current market

  • Help choosing the most appropriate level of inspection and provider (should you wish to engage one)

Cost: £150 (or £125 if you’ve previously purchased a Car Check - please see below).

Deal Closer

Suitable: if you’d like us to deal with negotiations and everything up to getting the car home.
Key features:

  • Inspection arranged on your behalf

  • ‘Plain speak’ explanation of the results of mechanical inspections

  • Negotiation with the seller on your behalf where appropriate.  Depending on circumstances, this could be over price, pre-sale servicing, pre-sale MOT, MOT advisories, repairs deemed essential or vital off the back of an independent mechanical inspection, part exchange valuation, warranty and/or delivery costs.

  • Trade rate delivery if required

  • Purchase of trade rate warranties for you (at approximately 40% of the cost you’d pay if you went direct)

Cost: £150

Repeat Purchase Check

Suitable: If you've asked us to check a potential purchase that turned out to be unsuitable

Key feature: for each subsequent vehicle that you'd like us to check we offer a discounted service.

Cost: £50

Purchase Check to Car Finder

Suitable: If we've checked a purchase for you that it turned out wasn't worth comleting.

Key Feature: we offer a discounted 'upgrade' from Purchase Check to Car Finder.

Cost: £125
